HOW TO
PROTECT YOU FROM DEFECTIVE HOMES
When Agnes bought her first Chicago condo in
1999, it was one of the worst real estate experiences
of her life.
\She
was trusting her agent at the time who obiviously
forgot to do one important thing:
researching the developer's background.
Two
years after buying her condo, the association
launched a $300,000 lawsuit against the developer
for fraud (extra parking paid not delivered,
chimney falling, roof leaking...).
10 years and almost $200,000 later, the lawsuit
finally settled, but we still have to handle
the rebuilding of the porch (condemned years
ago by the city) and the parking lot among other
things.
What did I learn from this?
Never let a client buy a new construction, condo
conversion or rehabbed property without finding
out first
